Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell works as a journalist for NBC News based out of Washington D.C. Mitchell has a BA degree in English from the University of Pennsylvania. In 1967 Mitchell became a reporter for KYW Radio and TV in Philadelphia. She was a reporter for the CBS subsidiary WDVM-TV (then WTOP) in Washington DC in 1976. After two years, she joined NBC News as a Washington correspondent. In 1981, she began covering at the White House, and in 1988 was named chief congressional Correspondent. She became the chief White House reporter in 1992, and chief Foreign Affairs correspondent at NBC News. Mitchell was a panelist on the TV program Meet the Press and also hosted the program. Mitchell joined the panel of the 1988 presidential debates in which George Bush against Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is the wife of Alan Greenspan a former chairman the Federal Reserve Board. In 2005 Mitchell was awarded the highly coveted Goldsmith Career Award for Excellence in Journalism from the John F. Kennedy School of Government and in 2004 the Radio-Television News Directors Association (RTNDA) awarded Mitchell with the Leonard Zeidenberg Award in recognition of her contribution to the protection and protection of First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell began reporting on the White House in 1981-1988, and during the presidency of Ronald Reagan. She covered many notable stories such as arm control, the budget tax as well as the Iran Contra scandal. She also traveled to many summits with the help of the President Reagan together with Mikhail Gorbachev.
